It's called integrity. What you do and what you say need to be in alignment. Yes, there are exceptions, but they have to be for big reasons -- like someone is in danger! Far better for the person in recruitment to have gently told you, "That's not the way we do things here." And perhaps warned you that not all people are trustworthy. Because they aren't.
