As a consultant, I see the value of providing an online experience. But the average small business person needs to understand that navigating social media is largely about understanding Generation Y. Please see my review of Millennials and social media.

See also the ways in which social media and sustainability are aligned.

Great article. Loved the 'immediate' tactical ideas you've shared here. A few are new to me and a few are gentle reminders. The PR opportunities you've listed are great. I recently received some media placements by signing up at www.PitchRate.com. As a former restaurant owner, I find that I don't think to 'cross-pollinate' my great strategies from one business/industry to the other. Your article reminded me of things I've tried in the past (successfully) and will begin using again! Thanks!
