Password protection is more important than ever with the widespread use of computers and mobile devices to access private information. Chances are you juggle multiple passwords but none of them are as secure as they should be.

Lena West of Influence Expansion shared an infographic from Password Genie today that is filled with information about why your passwords are probably not secure enough and how to fix them. You can check out the infographic below.

I also like the tips from Eric Griffith of PCMag.com. In addition to reminding you that you should use different passwords everywhere, change them frequently, and avoid common passwords, he offers extra security steps:

  • Spell a word backwards.
  • Substitute numbers for certain letters.
  • Randomly include capital letters.
  • Include a special character.

Eric also offers tools to test the strength of your passwords, tools that create strong passwords for you, and fantastic tips to create what he calls “super-seekrit-strong passwords.” You can get all the details from PCMag.
