Brought to you by Ninja Number:

Thanks to technology, running a business can be done from almost anywhere in the world. With the modern smartphone, you can send invoices, check on productivity, conduct conference calls, and much more. From finance to marketing and everything in between, these are some of the best small business apps available to help you organize and oversee your business venture.

1. ConnectTeam

This is a great employee app that will keep everyone connected, whether they’re working in the field or staying put in the office. Connecteam has everything needed to assist an employee through the onboarding process, job scheduling, and time tracking.

Keeping employees in the loop helps them stay more productive, but better visibility of what your employees are doing makes your decision-making processes a little easier. Optional features include checklists, forms, and an employee time clock. This isn’t to be used as a virtual assistant business app, as it is geared toward employee communication.

2. Chanty

This is another option for team communication, but this app makes it easy to connect through audio or video calls, text messages, and voicemail. Within the app, you can share screens between callers or have a more public channel for accessing information.

A centralized storage bank called Teambook keeps track of contacts, tasks, files, and messages. Messages can become tasks, complete with schedules and completion deadlines. Check on the status of these tasks and manage the workflow all from Chanty.

3. Xero

Managing the finances is an important step for small business owners, and the Xero app developed in New Zealand gives you access to real-time tracking of your company’s cash flow. This app can easily integrate with over 700 other small business apps, with PayPal being just one of them.

You can use the app to send invoices and check on if they’ve been opened or not, and you can also import and categorize any of your recent bank transactions. There are different tiered plans for the growing business, making this a scalable app to your business needs.

4. EmailAnalytics

Recent estimates show that the average professionals check their email at least 15 times a day. When converted to minutes, it’s about 37 minutes a day. To keep up with productivity and key performance indicators, EmailAnalytics gives you a quick visual of the team’s email activities.

It displays how many emails were sent, received, and the average response time. You don’t have to do the calculations, as the app delivers a daily or weekly report of the efficiency of your team.

5. Venmo

Though many small business owners are familiar with payment apps like Square or PayPal, Venmo is still somewhat of a newcomer to the business management side of financial apps. Many recognize the app as a social platform for exchanging money or splitting payments (such as cab fares), but there is untapped marketing potential in accepting Venmo for consumer payment.

When a Venmo user makes a purchase, the transaction can be shared with real friends who can then view, comment, and like the purchase. This is great brand exposure without additional marketing costs.

6. Quickbooks

Quickbooks Online has been a gold standard in small business accounting features, and the online experience allows you to keep up with the financial health of your company at any time and from anywhere.

The user-friendly dashboard lets you know where your cash flow stands without any complicating jargon or in-depth reports. From the app, you can track the company’s expenses, send invoices, generate accounting reports, and more.

7. RescueTime

If it seems like you don’t have enough time in the day to finish each task or project, you could use a time management app like RescueTime. This program will run in the background on either your desktop or your smartphone and track all of the places where your time is spent (both applications and websites).

You will get a detailed report showing you where the time has gone, and you can have RescueTime set an alert or block distracting websites to help you focus your attention. You will be more productive if you can eliminate wasted time.

These are just a few of the many apps available to help you take control of your small or large business. For maximum efficiency, find an app that is both scalable and yet customizable to your company.
