4 Tips for Capturing Leads with Your Website

It just makes sense to optimize your website to generate leads, but sadly, it’s not as easy as using a catchy graphic or adding a “click here” button to the page. The fact is that leads don’t come easy. It takes a lot of planning from your website designers and marketers to come up with an effective and strategic approach.

Unsure of where to start with optimizing your site? The good news is there are all sorts of methods you can use to turn your website into a lead generating machine. Here are four tips to keep in mind in order to be successful.

1. Provide Fresh & Interesting Content

One of the first things you’ll want to do on your website is to publish interesting and useful content on a routine basis. Posting a new blog each day or updating your FAQs page are great ways to attract visitors. The more worthwhile content your site has to offer, the higher it will rank in search engine result pages. The higher your position in these listings, the more likely you are to experience an influx of daily traffic.

When creating content, it’s important to use search engine optimization techniques. Search engines are more likely to give your content high ratings if you use:

  • Relevant keywords
  • Quality backlinks
  • Trending topics
  • Proper formatting

It’s also important to use a variety of content. Blogs and other text-based media are nice, but visitors can also learn from images, infographics, videos, and more. By providing properly optimized content on a routine basis, you’re more likely to attract traffic to your website. The more often you post new content, the more often potential clients will visit.

2. Use Forms on High Traffic Pages

Chances are you already have a few pages on your site that get a good amount of daily traffic. These pages are the perfect opportunity for lead generation. Before starting, figure out how visitors are being lead to your website. Maybe you’re using email marketing, blogs posts, and/or social media to drive outreach and traffic.

Once you know where your leads are coming from, you’ll want to add forms to those pages. Forms can be used for surveys, newsletter sign up, email registration, and much more. By using a WordPress form builder, you can easily create forms designed to collect visitor contact information that you can use for further communication and outreach.

3. Ensure Your Website is Accessible

Even if you aren’t a web designer, you know the importance of testing your website to ensure it loads properly. You’ve likely clicked all of the buttons and links, and ensured that your navigation is usable and informational. But have you tried accessing your website from something other than a standard desktop or laptop computer?

We live in an on-the-go world and more than ever, people are browsing the Internet using smaller devices, which means smaller screens. If your website design hasn’t been reviewed or updated in a long time, now is the ideal time to do it. Hire a web designer who can incorporate responsive design. With responsive design, your website will load on all screen sizes.

Another option to consider is to design a mobile version of your website. This way, you can remove any problematic elements for users who are browsing using their phones or tablets. Buttons, large navigations, and any Flash elements you have can be removed to ensure a seamless mobile user experience.

4. Use Calls to Action

Calls to action entice your website visitors to do something. Maybe you want them to sign up for your newsletter, submit their email address, or make a purchase. Whatever the call to action may be, using them is an effective way to increase lead generation.

As a rule of thumb, you want to have a call to action on each of your landing pages, but you never want to have more than one. Overwhelming visitors with various calls to action can cause more confusion than benefit.

If you’re looking for more creative ways to use calls to action on your website, consider adding them:

  • To the bottom of a blog post
  • On social media pages
  • In the comments
  • In image sliders/carousel

Another creative option is to add a call to action inside of a video. Not only is video content catchy, it’s a great way to encourage website visitors to take action. In fact, a CTA within a video gets 380% more clicks when compared to traditional sidebar positioning.

Conclusion

Your website should do more than just exist. Be sure to keep these tips in mind to make your website work for you. By deploying these tips, you can experience an increase in leads, conversions, and hopefully, income!
