Why Self-Care Is the Secret Weapon for Growth and Profit for Women in Business?

self care o clock

Brought to you by LunaJoy:

When you think about self-care, the first thing that comes to mind is luxury. This is because in today’s fast-paced life, taking time out for yourself is synonymous with living a luxurious life.

Whether you go to the gym or visit a therapist for infertility, we consider looking after ourselves as something additional instead of a necessity. However, what we don’t realize is that self-care is the secret weapon for growth and profit – especially for women in business.

It can do wonders for how we generate money. Wondering how? Read this post to find out more!

What Is Self-Care?

Self-care can look different to different people. Essentially, it refers to activities that nourish you physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. It’s anything that improves your well-being.

But these activities should be consistent and regular. They aren’t once-in-a-blue-moon kinds of things that you do to feel good. For example, if journaling or healthy food is your form of self-care, you must practice it every day to really call it self-care.

Similarly, self-care isn’t a luxury or earnable thing either. You can’t say that since you have worked so hard this week, you should go to your favorite dessert spot as self-care. This is rewarding yourself – not taking care of yourself holistically.

A successful businesswoman also knows that part of self-care is practicing compassion, which includes, for instance, knowing what not to say to someone with infertility when supporting those around you.

Some common forms of self-care for women include:

  • Going to the gym
  • Cooking healthy and nutritious food
  • Taking care of your skin, hair, and overall body
  • Swimming or any other sports
  • Reading books

Your self-care may seem different, but that’s totally fine.

How Does Self-Care Help with Growth and Profit?

When you take care of yourself, you provide your body with the fuel to perform better. According to a Vagaro survey, 67% of people agreed that self-care increased their productivity. It reduced their stress levels and provided mental clarity.

A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Russell Thackeray, has also found that people who practice self-care have better cognitive ability, focus, and concentration than those who don’t.

So, what does it all mean for women in business?

Well, when your mind is able to think and perform better, it’s when you’re truly capable of making the right decisions. You can focus on the core problems in your business and come up with better ways to handle them.

For example, imagine you’re a small business owner who works long hours and often neglects her well-being. What do you think is going to happen after some time? You’ll be completely burned out!

You won’t be able to think strategically, build strong relationships with your clients, or drive business growth. But when you shift your mentality and prioritize self-care, you’ll see that taking care of yourself allows you to take better care of your business.

So, it goes without saying that self-care is really the secret weapon for growth and profit for all individuals in business. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a woman or a man. Focusing on your well-being can change the future of your business!
