You should seek grants for businesses owned by women. You might discover that there are grants to pay for more internships, to support your business, or that allow you to send employees back to school. Some women don’t realize these grants are available. Spend a little time searching for a grant that allows you to educate your employees, hire better people, or seek government contracts.
You can work with the city or county as you search for more money. You might find grants offered by the local tourism board, chamber of commerce, and government. Some counties offer programs for cities in the area. Some states offer grants depending on where you’re located.
5. Spend Some Time Giving Back
Women-owned businesses should spend time giving back to the community. While you want to support women and girls in the community, you also need to give back where you can. Choose charities that you believe in, give money to, or schedule time to visit these charities with your staff.
You might spend a day working with a food bank, or you could work with a charity that builds houses for the homeless. Some companies prefer to donate goods, and you might solicit your clients for donations for these charities. As you continue to support the community, you can sponsor local youth sports teams. You’ll get a bit of marketing value from your support, and the kids appreciate it.
