5 Ways to Boost Your Business’s Efficiency

goal setting

Brought to you by Simpplr:

Every business has a goal to increase employee productivity and generate more revenue while reducing operating costs. However, as a business expands and grows, running it efficiently may seem like a tall order.

If you’re having difficulty figuring out how to boost your business’s efficiency, explore the following five ways to help you maximize your business operations.

Set Clear Goals

Goal setting enables you to articulate what you want your business to achieve and map out a strategy toward reaching your goals. Clear goals must be S.M.A.R.T. — specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound.

Assign your employees responsibilities that connect to your company’s goals and let them know what you require of them. For example, a S.M.A.R.T. goal could be to have 20 new customers by the end of each month. If you have five marketing reps, you should assign each of them at least four new monthly signups to achieve your goal.

Delegate Responsibilities When Necessary

Nothing boosts your business’s efficiency like delegating tasks frequently. Checking every small detail by yourself can waste company time and reduce employee productivity.

When you delegate tasks, you assign more responsibilities to your employees, taking more of a supportive rather than a supervisory role. Delegating responsibilities will boost staff morale and motivation, ultimately improving efficiency.

Prioritize Business Communication

Communication is a key driver to productivity in a business. Today, technology has increased the ways you can communicate both with your employees and your clients. Having access to a company intranet is a great way to foster better communication within your business. Staff can stay up-to-date with the latest company information and share internal resources.

Emails are useful, but they’re not always ideal for instant communication. Invest in communication tools such as Slack, a platform that lets you create different channels for different categories of information about your business: engineering, customer service, accounting, and more. With these dedicated channels, you’ll never miss important information from your team members.

Use Project Management Tools

Coordinating multiple teams on large projects can be daunting. With project management tools such as Trello or Asana, you can easily track what each member of your team is doing and measure the progress of the project.

Assign tasks to one or more individuals, create to-do lists, set deadlines, and collaborate with external parties all in one platform. In addition, many project management applications integrate with other business productivity tools such as Google Suite, Evernote, and Dropbox.

Eliminate Unnecessary Meetings

Have you ever been in a meeting that could have been an email thread? Remember how it felt like you could have spent the time completing tasks on your to-do list or connecting with clients? You don’t have to feel that way anymore. If you’re holding a meeting only for updates or to get feedback on tasks, explore alternatives such as video conferencing tools and other online platforms.

Follow the tips above to boost the productivity of your staff, which can result in better business efficiency and maximum profitability.
