With the state of the economy, you might be surprised to learn that more and more people are opening small businesses. Why are they doing this? Well, simply because it is becoming increasingly hard to survive on just one income. In most cases, the small endeavors are usually operated out of the home on a part time basis in order to supplement income.

With that being said, you need to make sure that you are putting in the proper time and research before trying to open any business, because you want to make sure that you are choosing something people are interested in. Starting your own business is never an easy task, and you’ve probably swayed from the idea in the past because you didn’t think you had the extra income.

However, you might be surprised to learn that there are tons of businesses that you can start with little to no capital. Below, you will learn about some of these business opportunities.

Offering Your Expertise with Consulting Services

Did you know that you could offer consulting services on just about anything and make money for it? This is almost like getting paid to be an advice columnist. Think about any type of special skill that you possess and put it to your advantage. Do you know about marriages or maybe you have special business insight or perhaps you know more about remodeling homes than the average individual? Starting a business like this takes very little capital, since all you need to do is make some business cards and pass them on to your friends, family, and other business contacts.

Start a Rental Business

Do you have a garage full of power tools or water sports equipment that you’re not using? Well, it’s possible that you have enough stuff right there to start your own rental business. In fact, you would be surprised to learn just how many people are doing this nowadays. With all the equipment lying around your home that you need, you already have your easy business capital that you need to get started. Begin renting out the equipment and start making money right away.

Take Advantage of House Cleaning Service

Everyone deserves to live in a clean home, but not everyone has the time or is even capable of cleaning his or her own home. This is where your services can come in handy. It doesn’t really take any special knowledge or tools to clean a home. In fact, you can start out with your own personal cleaning supplies that you use on your own home and build from there. Speak with businesses, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to score several big contracts.

Opening a Day Care Service

Are you stuck at home with several small children all day? Well, how much more work would it truly be to watch just a few more kids? With your own kids, it’s likely that you have toys, equipment, and the experience to occupy just a few more kids. Since you’re already going to be at home, taking in a few more kids shouldn’t be a problem. Since you can operate this business right from the comfort of your own home, there is very little capital needed to get up and running. Your only costs will be costs that you are already paying like electricity, food, and water. However, it’s a good idea to secure additional insurance, too.

What that being said, you would be surprised at how many parents would prefer have their kids stay in a home-type setting rather than an institutional setting. If you have several neighbors or friends who have small kids, you might already have a start on you clientele.
