Take a look at what’s trending and many times you will find the topic of self-esteem.
Self esteem really means understanding your strengths and faults and being able to move forward in life. Too much focus on faults can cause you to freeze in place and hinder you from starting that new job or new business.
How can you make sure you keep your self-esteem where it needs to be?
Let’s take a look at 10 tips that you might find helpful.
1) Take 15 minutes to write down everything that you know you can do. Don’t worry if you aren’t perfect at it. For example maybe you have a great speaking voice but the thought of stepping in front of an audience terrifies you. Focus in on the fact that you can convey your message other than getting on the stage. You can start podcasting! Since you know what you want to say (which is a big accomplishment in itself) you can talk into your microphone and before you know it you are offering your information via your own podcast show.
2) Start a journal with your daily accomplishments. At the end of your day take at least five minutes to write down your accomplishments. Make sure that you put down everything you’ve done. You want to give yourself credit.
3) Be a planner. After you’ve done the second step, you want to plan for the following day. These activities can include personal tasks you want to accomplish. In order to keep your self esteem high, don’t fret over not getting to everything on your list. Move it to the next day.
4) You are unique. No one can copy you. You have what I call your P Factor in my book. It’s what sets you apart from everyone else. That means no more comparing yourself to other people. The only things I want you to focus on are the improvements you make in your own life. Don’t worry about what others are or are not doing.
5) Be grateful. At times many people tend to look at the negative side of things. What I want you to do is sit down and write at least five things you are grateful for. It doesn’t matter how small they are. Everyone should be thankful they are alive. That’s a start. As you focus on the things you have and are grateful for as opposed to what you don’t have or want, your mind will begin to shift to a more positive attitude. Add to this list as often as you like. Every day upon waking read this list before you do anything else. It will set you up for a more positive and happy day.
6) Start gathering a collection of affirmations or positive quotes. Another part of your morning ritual should be reading several of these affirmations. You’ve seen what you have to be grateful for, now reinforce those positive thoughts with affirmations.
7) I’ve read the statement “your are the sum total of the five people you spend the most time with.” That means you need to spend time with people who are supportive and uplifting. Make an effort to connect with people you respect and can gain that positive energy from. Avoid the naysayers.
8) Do something for some else. One of the best gifts you can give to someone is to teach them how to do something. We tend to forget that what we know others don’t. What comes natural to us doesn’t come natural to others. When you take the time to be a giver, it reinforces the value you have in yourself. It also reinforces that skill.
9) Use visuals. When you have a project or task you want to accomplish, create a vision board. What steps do you need to take to get to the finish line? What will it look like once you are there?
10) Set yourself up for success. Don’t automatically expect the worst. You might not realize you are doing this but think about how many times have you said, “Why bother, it won’t work anyway.” You are setting yourself up for failure before you’ve even begun. Demand the best from yourself and don’t settle for less.
These ten tips are just scratching the surface but I hope they get you thinking in a new direction and start you on the path to appreciating yourself.

1. Planning has been huge for me as a blogger. I started without much of a plan at all. I have one in place now, and it’s a good thing – I’m a lot busier now, but I feel like there’s a grid to follow.
2. Affirmations are a must! When you find that quote that resonates, keep it. Tweet it. Pin it. Write it in a notebook. When you see these together, I think they help fuel you on your own level.
3. Visuals have been important to me as a blogger and a soccer coach. If I can diagram what I envision as a coach, I can make it reality. If I can take a picture to accompany my words, there’s a better chance that it will stick with someone who sees it.
