Don’t Let Grinch Steal Your Business

3 Characteristics of the Grinch to Avoid in your Business

Being in business, there are many duties to complete at any given time and there may be times when your disposition may become a bit mimicking the Grinch (from How the Grinch Stole Christmas). Allowing certain characteristics of a somber outlook can hinder the progress of your business. You may not even recognize the expansion of the effect of your “grinchness” towards your colleagues, business associates and especially your customers.

In the popular Christmas story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Grinch is a character who doesn’t like Christmas, so he wants to ruin it for the Who’s in Whoville. So he sneaks in their houses and steals all the gifts, wrappings, food and stockings.

Grinch Characteristic: Greed – If you seek to “take” from others but do not seek to GIVE to others with value, then you end up with nothing you want.

He figures that if he takes everything celebrating Christmas away from the Who’s, they will be unhappy and Christmas won’t happen. He figures this solidifies his control over the Who’s and they will have to do things his way.

Grinch Characteristic: Selfishness – If you feel that you need to control everything and not seek others’ options, ideas or input then you will not be allowing yourself to learn new things and gain more knowledge.

After he steals all of their Christmas items away, he sits at the top of a nearby hill to see them coming out of their houses sobbing and crying because there would be no Christmas.

Grinch Characteristic: Fear – This characteristic can keep you paralyzed into not taking the action that will put you on the road toward growth in your business. Don’t allow your fear to keep you from your potential.

Well, he was surprised to see, that even though they didn’t have the trees, wrappings, food and trimmings, they were overjoyed because they were together and they began to sing. He realized the only person he had hurt by his actions, was himself. So, he decided to bring all of it back and when he did, he was happy again and enjoyed the time with the Who’s.

You have to remember that what you feel inside gets projected outward and it affects your business in ways you may not realize until you lose contacts, connections, or even customers.
